Pity Al Gore. And pity those who may suffer from his apparent misquote at COP15 yesterday, where he predicted the melting of Arctic ice over the next 5-7 years. As is the norm, Gore's misinterpretation of a figure from the melting snow and ice report was immediately seized upon by "climate deniers" and the likes of Rush Limbaugh.

The Fifteenth Conference of Parties (COP-15) taking place in Copenhagen is now deadlocked at last report, two days before its scheduled end. The conference president has resigned, and the major excitement comes from Al Gore, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Mike Bloomberg bloviating as protesters scream about "climate justice."

President Obama's mission to save the planet from global warming could end up trampling on the U.S. Constitution, critics say. When Obama arrives in Copenhagen Friday, he is hoping to cut a deal on a new global-warming agreement. Even though the conference is not likely to produce a legally binding deal, critics say if the president signs an intern

As if in response to yesterdays blog about feeling the pressure, Gordon Brown will grace COP15 with his presence a day early, the Governator is already walking the halls, none of the parties negotiating the fine detail of the treaties had much sleep last night and are shipping in industrial strength coffee for this evening. Welcome to the big push.

In Copenhagen these days you can meet princes, presidents and Amazonian panther women. One moment you can listen to New York's Republican mayor extolling the virtues of wind farms and bike paths, the next with a Japanese girl dressed as polar bear, or be urged to save Australian's much-loved marsupials by joining the Biosphere Bandicoot Buddies.

The Copenhagen climate talks won't likely deliver a new global treaty on global warming, but there are still plenty of reasons to pay attention. Starting Monday, 15,000 people are expected in Copenhagen, Denmark. Over the next two weeks they're supposed to be hashing out a successor to the Kyoto Treaty, the global deal regulating greenhouse gases
